The Minister of National Education participated in the Çankırı leg of the"Education Meetings with Teacher Ziya". His colleagues hosted Minister Selçuk at home with their tea.
Minister Selçuk announced the good news to the teachers who stated that both students and teachers got used to the distance education experience they had for two and a half months and demanded distance education to continue with face to face education.
Stating that the transition to distance education took place a week after the pandemic thanks to the strength and sacrifice of the team of the Ministry of National Education Selçuk stated that Digital Education Platform (EBA) will continue to be broadcast with a rich content in the summer. Selçuk emphasized that distance education will always be in the future and went on to say "From primary school students who have problems with reading and writing, to 12th grade students who are preparing for university, EBA TV and EBA Internet will be full of various activities. We will also have very rich content from parent training to teacher training for adults who want to develop a hobby.
He went on to say, "In the medium term I want children to take some lessons using distance education tools. There should not be that much theoretical lessons at school. Students need some space and time to spend in workshops to make friends and socialize. On this occasion, we have initiated a big project on improving the infrastructure of distance education. We can herald early that Turkey's distance education infrastructure will be one of the best in the world. "
Game-based adaptation process for children
Minister Selçuk also gave information to his colleagues about the harmonization studies that will come into effect when face to face education begins. Indicating that he considers game-based point of view important, Selçuk said, "We want our children to have a game-based adaptation process in September when schools are opened. For this purpose, we have prepared booklets about some activities. We are also planning teacher training. In order to facilitate the adaptation process for our children, we have prepared books and documents on which activities can be done properly concerning specific age groups. By this way, we're planning to have smoother transition.
"Our investments have started to strengthen the infrastructure of digital education"
The digitalization of education in the new world order was the first item of "Education Meetings with Teacher Ziya" agenda held in Bitlis. Selçuk said, "We saw that a new world order is coming. Therefore we should raise our children according to the future of this new world." He went on to say, "In this new process, the Turkish national education system needs to be redesigned and distance education should be incorporated to the structure of this system. We already have started to work on that purpose. These works are the reason why we carry out distance education at national level and we can take action faster compare to most of the countries in the epidemic period. You will see that our digital education infrastructure continues to strengthen. Our investments have started."
"Âşık Veysel is our guide"
Teachers added color to the "Education Meeting with Teacher Ziya" with folk songs from vairous regions. Veysel Sulukaya, a music teacher from Bitlis performed a song called "Five Minarets in Bitlis" which identifies the city. Meanwhile, Minister Selçuk accompanied her.
Noticing the saz behind Cangül Türkgüzeli, Teacher Ziya wanted to hear a song from her as well. Cangül played and sang "Anlatamam Derdimi" from Aşık Veysel.
Selçuk thanked her and said, "Aşık Veysel is our guide. How beautiful he has put it. 'I did not see that my trouble was my cure. There is no rose without a thorn.' We should think about those lyrics for days.
