Deputy Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said: "The Ministry of National Education has taken important steps in the last year regarding intellectual property rights in vocational education, BİLSEMs and science high schools. As a result of our cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Brand Institution, we have completed the training programs for principals and teachers in 81 cities of the country. Moreover, we established the intellectual property rights office in order to provide coordination of registry activities carried out in 81 cities and provide required support. We applied for the registry of patents for 2 thousand and 291 products in the first four months of 2021 and received patents for 183 of those products."

Goal is to register 753 patents, useful models, designs and brands
Stressing that the Ministry wants to create and widen awareness about intellectual rights among secondary education institutions, Özer said, "We have taken important steps regarding intellectual rights awareness in science high schools and BİLSEMs. We have organized training programs for principals and teachers of all science high schools and BİLSEMs in 81 cities of the country. We are aiming at registering at least one product of each science high school and BİLSEMs in the country in 2021. We also aim at making the registry of 250 products manufactured by vocational high schools. Finally, our goal is to register 753 patents, useful models, designs and brands. When we consider our success we achieved in the first four months of 2021, we see that we have reached an important point. I believe that we will easily achieve our goal. We also managed to gain important experience and culture about intellectual and industrial property rights in related education institutes. These will allow us to reach important success in the future."

Özer thanked the Turkish Patent and Brand Institute Chairman Prof. Dr. Habip Asan for his support and Director General for Special Education and Guidance Services Mehmet Nezir Gül, Director General for Vocational and Technical Education Kemal Varın Numanoğlu and Director General for Secondary Education Cengiz Mete for their efforts.
