The project of the 9th Grade student from Akşemsettin Science and Arts Center in Niğde Akif Emre Özyıldız won the first award in the Technological Design Category of TÜBİTAK 52nd Research Project Regional Contest for High School Students with the project entitled, "RoboKask".

Özyıldız stated that he had designed a smart helmet for soldiers in order to increase their dominancy in the battlefield and provide quick response in case of any negativity.

Özyıldız gave following information about his project:
"Various different sensors in the helmet detect all physiological changes in the body such as gun shots and this information is immediately sent to the headquarters and provides the opportunity to quick response. Similarly, various different cameras on the helmet allow the operator to obtain information about the location of targets. Gas and similar sensors constantly measure the air of the environment and detect all kinds of flammable and explosive gases and send this information to the headquarters."

Meanwhile, Project Advisor and BİLSEM Biology Teacher Murat Sakarya said, "The project achieved an important success in the Regional TÜBİTAK contest. Many projects from 7 cities located in our region competed in the contest and this one won the first award. We expect our project will be qualify to the finals. We also applied for the patent of the project. The smart helmet will be an added value for the defense industry of our country which is fighting against terror organizations and will provide the safety of our soldiers."

Thermal camera and face recognition systems in the prototype was the result of a 6-month  R&D work.
