NUMBER OF PEOPLE ENROLLED IN PUBLIC EDUCATION COURSES REACHED 6 MILLION IN 6 MONTHS

998 public education centers affiliated to the Ministry of National Education have been responding to the education needs of people in all 81 cities of the country.
 
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stressed that his Ministry increased the number of training programs not only for people at education age but all people adding that, "In January 2022, 602 thousand and 282 people enrolled in public education courses. In February this figure increased to 720 thousand and 254, in March, it reached 1 million 314 thousand and 61. In April, the number of people enrolled in courses was 3.8 million, in May total of 5 million 224 thousand and 297 people enrolled in 241 thousand and 355 free training courses opened in 73 different fields. In the first six months of 2022, a total of 6 million 317 thousand and 933 people enrolled in 286 thousand and 225 courses organized in 998 public education centers and 27 advanced schools for girls."
 
Noting that his Ministry encouraged all people to enroll in lifelong learning courses, Özer said, "3 million 681 thousand and 871 (58.34%) of people enrolled in courses were women while 2 million 629 thousand and 62 41.66%) were men. According to our statistics, the number of people enrolled in these courses in the first six months of 2021 were 1 million 663 thousand and 223 and this figure increased by 379% when compared to the figures of the same period in 2022."
 
Özer went on to say that cities which have highest number of people enrolled in these courses are respectively Kilis, Erzincan, Mersin, Gümüşhane, Osmaniye, Edirne, Kütahya, Batman, Burdur and Denizli.
 
Özer also gave information about age groups who preferred public education courses.
 
"2 million 629 thousand and 900 of these people 41.67%) were between the 25-64 age group. Public education centers opened 205 thousand and 280 general knowledge training programs and 4 million 761 thousand and 63 enrolled in these programs. These centers also organized   80 thousand and 946 vocational and technical courses and 1 million 549 thousand and 870 enrolled in these courses," Özer added.
