Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk attended the "From International Projects to Applied Training Programs Symposium" organized in cooperation with the Necmettin Erbakan University.
Addressing the online symposium, Minister Selçuk said that approximately 60 percent of world' population are actively using the internet and this is an important fact that should be considered during this period.
Selçuk said that the Anatolian term "Seek education from the cradle to the grave" is now used by the world under the name of "lifelong learning".
Selçuk stated, "During a period when the world experienced rapid technological developments, economic parameters are changing, cultural disinformation is rising and social media has a negative impact on children, this term must transform into a new identity. The answer is in the 2023 Vision Document."
"We are aiming at having a place in the heart of humanity in line with our civilization and historical traditions," said Selçuk adding that they have been serving the country based on an idea which was expressed by Mevlana as, "If you have a prayer like being everywhere, enter the hearts. Because, those who love carry their loved ones in their hearts."
Minister Selçuk went on to say: "It is very important to provide opportunities to our students which are similar to their peers in the world and quality of education. Some international studies and examinations such as TIMSS and PISA revealed that Turkey is on the rise. We are happy to see that our efforts give results."
"We are passing through a great transformation"
Noting that vocational high schools gained more importance during the pandemic, Selçuk said that these schools developed solutions during the pandemic and this happened only in Turkey.
"They were the first and only examples in the world. During this process, we have been discussing measures that should be taken against the pandemic and passing through a great transformation under the leadership of our President," stated Selçuk.
Noting that many countries in the world failed to make the preparations Turkey made and they tried to carry out distance education through mails, Selçuk said Turkey continues to distribute tablet computers and internet packages to students.
Selçuk stated that the symposium will provide a foundation for a data based management.
Reminding that the Ministry has taken up every step of the 2023 Education Vision Document according to the scientific data, Minister Selçuk said, "This symposium which we organized in cooperation with the Necmettin Erbakan University will shed a light. I would like to thank Konya Metropolitan Municipality and those who made contributions."
