Minister Özer will first attend the Solutions Day at the Transforming Education Summit on September 17 which will provide a platform for partners to mobilize support to launch or scale up initiatives connected to the Summit Thematic Action tracks.
Later, he will participate in the High-level Ministerial Meeting on Transforming Education in Crisis and Emergencies in Education.
Minister Özer will also address participants in the "Building Resilient Education Systems" panel which will be organized as a part of the High-level Ministerial Meeting.
The panel aims at exchanging views about things to do for rebuilding education by focusing on finance, planning and coordination.
Minister Özer will explain the transformation of education in Türkiye in the last 20 years
Being a member of UNESCO's Executive Board, Türkiye is a part of the decision mechanism concerning global education, science and culture policies. The Transforming Education Summit will focus on transforming education until 2030.
The summit aims at political goals for transforming education, activities, solutions and solidarity, recovering pandemic-related learning losses, redesigning education systems for the world of today and tomorrow, and revitalizing national and global efforts to achieve equal quality education to everyone and provide lifelong education opportunity.
Common goals will be defined and activities concerning transforming general elements of education to the conditions of our era as a part of the Transforming Education Summit.
Common issues defined by UN about the transforming education and other issues that should be considered are: "Schools and Learning Environments of Future", "New Age for Teachers and Education", "Education Program and Pedagogy Suitable to 21st Century", "Digital and Other Learning Sources" and "Financing Education".
UNESCO General Secretary's compliments to Türkiye
A pre-summit in ministerial level was held in Paris by UNESCO in June 2022. Participants presented pre-reports about international negotiations and discussed key suggestions about global cooperation and transforming education till 2030 and beyond.
Minister Özer had a meeting with OECD General Secretary Mathias Cormann in June in Paris where he attended the Transforming Education Pre-summit and Cormann said after the meeting that Türkiye achieved an important development in the last 20 years. Cormann made an announcement in his social media account that, "More to do, but the success of Türkiye should be an inspiration for others in the region."
Minister Özer will also get together with Turkish students studying in the US during this visit to New York.
