Minister Özer received students from various schools in his office on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly and the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. After meeting with the students Özer turned over his office to 11-year-old Kaan Can İl, a 5th grade student at Toygar Börekçi Secondary School.
Starting his speech by explaining that Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gifted the 23 April National Sovereignty and Children's Day to children, Minister Özer said that uniting the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly with the children's day shows that the future and sovereignty of the country is in the hands of children. Expressing that Atatürk gifted the Republic of Türkiye to the youth for this reason, Özer said that Türkiye will continue to live forever if the children grow up as talented, self-confident, thinking analytical and harboring the values of this country.
Wishing Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives in the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes and a speedy recovery to the injured, Özer stated that the Ministry, together with the provincial directors and teachers, made great efforts to open schools in the earthquake area and reunite students with their teachers. Stressing that the teachers are the greatest heroes of this country and have mobilized wholeheartedly, Özer stated that they cooked meals, made bread, distributed the aid sent to the region and gave psychosocial support to your brothers and sisters in tents. Minister also underlined that they made great sacrifices to open schools quickly and have been given great support to ensure that children affected by the earthquake do not fall behind others.
Özer turn over his office to Kaan Can İl
Stating that they should carry the principles of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who gave this holiday as a gift, from generation to generation, Kaan Can İl celebrated the holiday of all children, especially his friends and teachers who experienced the earthquake disaster.
Expressing that they learned to protect the homeland and the flag, to be hardworking and honest from teachers and parents, İl emphasized that as today's children, as tomorrow's elders, they will carry this flag to the most beautiful places in the country. İl emphasized that they would be worthy of the trust, support and love of their elders. Addressing all the children of the world as the luckiest children of the world's most beautiful country that has a children's day, İl said: "Come and join our joy, our world will be filled with happiness. Happy April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day and Ramadan Feast."
Upon Minister Özer's question asking: "What is your wish, what are you going to do?" İl said that he will first try to fulfill the duties assigned by the President by holding meetings with his friends.
Minister Özer asked whether, as the Minister of National Education, he believed that the education services the Ministry offered to children and young people were good. İl said that he did. İl was also asked if he had a problem in school. He said that everything was sufficient for him, but he could get the opinions of his friends on this matter.
Stating that the Ministry of National Education is the most difficult but most enjoyable ministry, Özer emphasized that the Ministry of National Education is the most important Ministry as it raises the next generations and ensures the expansion of education and the facilitation of access to education which is the most important thing in increasing the competitiveness of the country. Özer evaluated that the Ministry of National Education is the Ministry that contributes the most to the future.
Having taken a souvenir photo with the children he accepted in his office, Minister Özer gave them various gifts.
