MINISTER ÖZER MEETS WITH THE PRESIDENT OF TRNC ERSİN TATAR

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, who is in London, the capital city of England, as part of holding official contacts, paid a visit to the President of the TRNC, Ersin Tatar, who was attacked by a Greek group and Greek Cypriots yesterday. 
 
In the meeting held at the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Representative Office, Özer stated that they felt deep sadness when they heard about the incident and expressed that they, as the Republic of Türkiye, strongly condemn and condemn the attack. 
 
Stressing that such an attack at the university, where all voices should be heard in a democratic way, is unacceptable, Minister Özer stated that the State of the Republic of Türkiye has always stood by the TRNC and they are ready to provide all kinds of support to strengthen the TRNC. 
 
Expressing that as the Ministry, they are in cooperation with the TRNC in education, Özer said that they will continue to provide all kinds of support to increase the quality of education in TRNC. 
 
President of the TRNC Ersin Tatar also stated that they have faced such outbursts from time to time and said that similar attacks were also carried out against Rauf Denktaş. 
 
Underlining that England is the cradle of democracy and a place where multivocality is considered important, Tatar noted that he came to London to give a conference upon the invitation of Turkish students in an educational institution with the approval of the university, but the conference was wanted to be prevented.
 
Stating that slogans were shouted against the Turkish state, Tatar emphasized that despite all these initiatives, they were determined to hold this conference and that these outbursts could not intimidate them.
 
Ambassador of Türkiye to London Osman Koray Ertaş, Deputy Ministers Petek Aşkar and Sadri Şensoy, Director General for EU and Foreign Relations Hasan Ünsal and Representative of the TRNC in London also attended the meeting.
