MEB TRANSFERS 202 THOUSAND 817 STUDENTS WHO ARE EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

Stating that they have taken every required precaution to ensure access to education for students in the earthquake zone and transferred to other provinces, Minister of National Education Özer noted that they transferred 202 thousand 817 students who requested to be transferred to other provinces to enable them to continue their education.
 
Noting that different numbers of students were transferred to all 71 provinces, according to the distribution of students who requested a transfer, Özer stated that Ankara was the province with the highest number of transfers with 27 thousand 679 students. Ankara was followed by Antalya with 18 thousand 922 students, Mersin with 18 thousand 878 students, Istanbul with 15 thousand 19 students, and Konya with 11 thousand 366 students.
 
Özer said that 167 students transferred to schools abroad affiliated to the Ministry of National Education.
 
Noting that there were 3 million 600 thousand 891 students in public and private education institutions, in 10 quake-hit provinces before the earthquake, Özer said that 202 thousand 817 students in total were transferred from 10 provinces after the earthquake. 66 thousand 916 students out of 202 thousand 817 were transferred from Hatay to other provinces. Kahramanmaraş ranks second with 50 thousand 245 students. 36 thousand 900 students were transferred from Malatya, 21 thousand 629 students were transferred from Adıyaman, 13 thousand 706 students from Gaziantep, 3 thousand 853 from Osmaniye. 3 thousand 635 students were transferred from Adana to other cities, 2 thousand 808 from Diyarbakır, 2 thousand 803 from Şanlıurfa and 322 students from Kilis transferred to other provinces.
 
Minister of National Education Özer emphasized that they will always continue to stand by children in their education process and that they will offer all kinds of opportunities to ensure that students have access to education.
 
As earthquake survivors, students who have been transferred to other provinces will also be exempted from absenteeism provisions
Stating that they are also working to reduce the effects of negative emotions experienced after the earthquake and to strengthen the psychosocial resilience of the students, Özer reminded that students studying in the earthquake zone and students transferred from the earthquake zone do not have to attend the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. He underlines that all students who were affected by the earthquake will be exempted from the provisions regarding absenteeism.
 
Stating that, as the Ministry of National Education, they delivered the training sets, textbooks and supplementary resources prepared to meet all the stationery needs of the students affected by the earthquake, Özer explained that in addition to stationery needs, they have reprinted these textbooks and study aids for students at all levels and delivered all kinds of educational materials that students' need.
