MATHEMATICS CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY

Minister Özer attended the launch of the Mathematics Campaign initiated in cooperation with TÜBİTAK and universities with the purpose of adapting mathematics lessons to daily life and helping children like mathematics.
 
The motto of the campaign is "Mathematics Everywhere".
 
Minister Özer noted that the education system was affected most due to Covid-19 pandemic and it was seen that schools can be the safest place when required measures are taken.
 
"Mathematics is the keystone of equal opportunity in education" 
"There are mathematics workshops, material development, teacher training programs and digital training programs in the campaign. We will actively cooperate with all stakeholders varying from TÜBİTAK to higher education institutions and UNICEF in order to address chronic problems of mathematics education. I believe that mathematics is the keystone of equal opportunity in education," said Özer. 
 
Minister Özer noted that provincial organizations of the Ministry started to establish workshops as a part of the campaign.
 
Reminding that the Ministry has decided to open summer schools at the Science and Arts Centers (BİLSEMs) for all levels of education, Özer said that the Ministry also decided to open mathematics summer schools.

"We have decided to open mathematics summer schools in all cities and districts of the country in order to integrate our students to our campaign. We have no time to lose and we have no tolerance for postponement. We will continue to design campaigns in order to reduce inequalities in the next school year. I believe that the mathematics campaign will be a milestone for the future of our country," stated Özer.
 
"We want that mathematics will become the most favorite lesson of students"
Meanwhile, member of Parliamentary National Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Commission and AK Party Deputy Orhan Erdem said that the Teaching Profession Law is a historical step and the mathematics campaign will eliminate prejudices about mathematics lessons.
 
Directorate General for Basic Education Tuncay Morkoç said that the Ministry wants mathematics to become the most favorite lesson.
