Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced that LGS central and local placement results are announced.
Noting that students made their LGS choices between July 4 and July 20, Özer said that the results can be seen at Temmuz 'meb.gov.tr' and 'sonuc.meb.gov.tr' internet sites. Students can see the results of placement by entering their ID numbers and dates of births.
"This year, 1 million 31 million and 799 of 1 million 236 thousand and 308 students who graduated from 8th grade have entered the central exam and 1 million 8 thousand and 139 of them made their choices about placement. 951 thousand and 703 of them, in other words, 95 percent of them were placed to the schools they preferred. It can be observed that there is an important improvement when we consider that this figure was 93 percent in 2021," said Özer.
Occupancy rate in schools that enrolled students according to the results of LGS is 99 percent
Minister Özer said that secondary schools that enrolled students according to the results of LGS increased that quota this year and as a result of this decision, their occupancy rate also increased. In 2021, their occupancy rate was 95 and this year it reached 98,4 percent.
Student quota is full in science and social sciences high schools while occupancy rate in vocational and technical Anatolia high schools increased to 95 percent.
94 percent of students who were placed without exam are enrolled in one of their three choices
85 percent of students are enrolled in high schools according to the local placement system without considering the results of LGS.
Noting that the local placement system has gained importance, Özer went on to say that, "94 percent of students who were placed without an exam are enrolled in one of their three choices. In 2019, this figure was 91 percent and in 2020, it was 92 percent. This increase revealed that there has been improvement in placing students in the schools they prefer."
Placement to first choice rate increased to 55 percent
Özer said that there has been a similar improvement in placing students to their first school they prefer and this rate increased to 55 percent adding that this figure varied between 49 and 52 percent in 2019 and 2021.
Student satisfaction about placement increased
Minister Özer said that students who are placed in Anatolia high schools, Anatolia imam hatip schools and vocational and technical Anatolia high schools are satisfied with the placement.
"Last year, 53 percent of students who were placed in Anatolia high schools were enrolled in their first choice of schools. This year, this figure reached 57 percent and 99 percent of students were enrolled in one of their first three choices of Anatolia high schools."
Transfer application begins
Minister Özer said that the transfer application period for students who were placed or want to change their schools will be between July 25 and 29 and the results will be announced on August 1. There will be a second transfer application period between August 1 and 5 and the results will be announced on August 8. Placement process will be completed on August 19.
