Altındağ Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School teachers and students, who were selected as the winner of the "FCHgo! Project" competition last month with their projects on teaching hydrogen fuel cells to young students with educational software in an entertaining way, were also awarded the Green Skills Award by the European Training Foundation (ETF) with different projects they developed on environment and coding.
134 applications from 39 countries were submitted to the Green Skills Award competition organized by the ETF. The winners of 11 studies that made it to the finals in the competition were determined by public voting.
The Project called "Environmental themed studies in coding education" which was carried out under the supervision of Selçuk Yusuf Arslan, Information Technologies teacher was among the top 3 most rated studies.
At the online award ceremony of the competition, Altındağ Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School was selected as one of the three winners of the competition.
"Software that calculates the carbon footprint", "game-based educational software that explains hydrogen fuel cells ", which also won the international first place in the FCHgo! Project Competition, a project of female students called "More Coding for Girls", which develops robotic solutions to environmental problems and "Code for Nature" carried out in a village school in İzmir province are the projects carried out by the school in environment and coding.
The results were announced by Cesare Onestini, Director of ETF at an online conference organized by the European Training Foundation and UNESCO.
The European Training Foundation will visualize the story of Teacher Arslan's and Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School's different approach on coding education, and will work to make it common in the world as a pilot project.
Deputy Minister Mahmut Özer congratulated the students
Mahmut Özer, Deputy Minister of National Education, stated that, from strengthening the infrastructure of schools and increasing the professional development of students to teacher and job shadowing, important achievements have started to emerge with the implementation of many new projects in vocational education.
Expressing his satisfaction that Altındağ Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School received an award from the European Training Foundation, Özer said, "Environmental themed studies in the coding education carried out by our school has received another award in the international arena. We congratulate our school administrators, students and teacher Selçuk Arslan, who was a consultant in the project, for their achievements. I also thank the General Directorate of Vocational and Technical Education, Ankara Directorate of National Education and school administrators for their support. Our Ministry will increasingly continue to support the projects carried out in vocational education."
