"We dreamt the first day of school when we designed this book. We know how important the first day will be for our children. Our purpose is to allow them to start coming to school in the healthiest and happiest way possible as it is among the most important moments of their lives. We used the power of the games in order to make this possible but we used contact free games which are suitable for every occasion... These games are full of joy and will assist children to adapt to school life, their school mates and teachers..."
These are the words Teacher Ziya preferred when he explained contact free games designed for pre-school and first grade students during their face to face education. The Ministry of National Education has prepared a "Contact Free Games Book" in order to make adaption to school and new normal process of children easier and more fun and the books have been delivered to first grade teachers on September 21 to allow them to use the books at schools.
Every single of the 60 contact free games in the book will assist children to develop various different useful skills such as "meeting, communication, paying attention and cooperation" stated Minister Selçuk, "games which will help children to adapt to school life and environment as well as getting used to wearing masks and maintaining social distancing and personal hygiene. They will also support them to stay away from all kinds of worries and fears."
Games which can be played in the classroom and at the school garden are designed in a way to maintain required social distancing and do not require the use of the same material by the children. All the games in the book were tested by the children and each of them are aim at developing different skills among students.
Minister Ziya Selçuk accompanied teachers who were rehearsing games from the contact free games book in the school garden of the Şehit Aytaç Usta Primary School in Yenimahalle Çiğdemtepe district of Ankara. "We, teachers, have a rule; learn, experience and live what you are going to teach your students. Due to this reason, we are here together to see how we can play these contact free games and detect shortcomings if any," said the Minister of National Education.
"First we designed the games, then test them among children and see their smiles and happy moments. Now, we offer this variety of different games to the use of our teachers," stated Selçuk, "We believe that our teachers will make great memories for students and they will start school with these happy and healthy moments. I have no doubt that we will carry out this process with success with the support of our teachers."
