525 LIBRARIES FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS FOUNDED IN PUBLIC EDUCATION

The Ministry which aimed at establishing at least one library built from recycled materials in at least one lifelong learning institution in every 81 cities announced that a total of 525 libraries from recycled materials were founded in public education centers in different parts of the country.
 
Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer said concerning the use of recycled materials that, "We all see that what we can do when we use materials considered as waste at homes and workshops as a part of this project that aimed at using resources in the most effective and productive way and making contribution to the new production and consumption culture."
 
The Ministry has been developing products from junk materials as a part of its "Zero Waste" Project.
 
"Students also have the opportunity to improve their creativity and skills during producing these products from recycled materials. Recycle awareness disseminated from teachers and students to their families and rest of the society. And now, people at the public education centers are using libraries built from recycled materials," noted Minister Özer.
 
He added that the number of books in these libraries is gradually increasing as a result of donations from teachers and students.
 
Number of books in these libraries recently increased from 35,513 to 117,772.
 
In addition to the establishment of libraries from recycled materials, the Ministry continues to accept book donations for school libraries.
