176 MILLION LIRA SUPPORT TO 1000 SCHOOLS IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION PROJECT

Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk chaired the March 2021 performance assessment of 1000 Schools in Vocational Education Project.
 
Among the other participants of the meeting were Deputy Minister of National Education - Mahmut Özer, Director General for Vocational and Technical Education Kemal Varın Numanoğlu, Director of Strategy Department Mehmet Fatih Leblebici, Director General for Support Services İsmail Çolak, Director General for Special Education and Guidance Services Nezir Gül, Director General for Measurement, Assessment and Examination Services Sadri Şensoy, Construction and Estate General Manager Umut Gür, Information Technologies General Manager Özgür Türk, Minister Advisors Dr. Sevil Uygun İlikhan, Dr. Aylin Şengün Taşçı, Dr. Hayri Eren Suna and provincial national education managers of 81 cities of the country.
 
The main topic of the meeting was the assessment of the project in the light of the performance data collected in the first four months of the project aiming at increasing the quality in vocational education and decreasing success differences among schools.
 
Till now, 1000 libraries were established in 1000 schools, physics, chemistry and biology labs were founded and some labs were renovated. Moreover, exiting labs and workshops were rehabilitated as a part of the project. Within this framework, 85 million liras of the 200 million lira project were allocated for the renovation and rehabilitation of existing labs and workshops.
 
Repair and maintenance of selected 1000 schools were prioritized. The Ministry has allocated 50 million liras for these activities in 2020. In 2021, the Ministry allocated 250 million liras for the reinforcement activities. Training programs for teachers continued as planned. Within this context, 67 thousand and 500 teachers completed measurement and assessment training programs and 40 thousand and 166 teachers attended intellectual and industrial property rights training programs.
 
Noting that large scale projects including school administrators, teachers, students, parents and school environment continues according to the project schedule, Minister Selçuk stated that 176 million liras were allocated to the project.
 
"The project which was initiated five months ago is implemented according to the project schedule. We have assessed the first four months of the project and discuss future activities," added Selçuk.
