As a part of the model designed by the Ministry of National Education, 12th grade vocational and technical high school students will have the opportunity to attend skill training programs or take compatible and intensive academic classes.
In addition to implementation of various different programs for the reinforcement of vocational education and increasing the number of students enrolled in vocational education, the Ministry provides the students of vocational schools the opportunity to attend intensive skill training programs.
The Ministry prepared an "Academic Package" model in an effort to assist 12th grade vocational and technical Anatolia high school students to make their career plans and give them the opportunity to attend skill training programs or take compatible and intensive academic classes.
Deputy Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that this model will offer two new options to 12th grade students of vocational and technical Anatolia high schools.
Noting that there are approximately 250 thousand students studying in the 12th grade of vocational high schools, Deputy Minister of National Education Özer said, "Students who want to enroll in higher education institutions will enter academic classes for five days a week and free textbooks that are distributed to students will be prepared according to the content of the academic package."
"31 hours weekly academic training program"
Özer mentioned the importance of gradually implementing the model and went on to say: "The package will offer 4 academic programs and students will have the opportunity to attend academic training programs for five days a week. Student's academic grade points average of 9th, 10th, 11th grades should be over 70 points and should complete a 40 day long internship in the 11th and 12th grades in order to benefit from this training model.
These students will attend a 31 hours academic training program five days a week. They will complete an obligatory internship during the summer term of 11th and 12th grade. Moreover, free textbooks that are distributed to students will be prepared according to the content of the academic package.
